Environmentally Friendly Ways to Get Rid of Weeds

Eco-Chic's picture

The simplest tip of all: Pull weeds out manually. Although we are accustomed to chemicals that work on their own, resulting in none of our own labour, our laziness is what is slowly deteriorating the environment.
Tip: An easier way of pulling weeds is to wet the weed and area thoroughly with water, which will soften the soil and will allow to excavate the entire weed, roots and all.

Pour hot, boiling water over the weeds. The hot water will kill the weed. Bonus: Re-use boiling water left over from a pot of tea, corn on the cob, or pasta, to save on water.

Mow down weeds. The fastest and easiest way to get rid of weeds temporarily is to mow them down using either a lawn mower or trimmer.
