Hot, humid weather often means mosquito season. Instead of letting them ruin your next barbeque or relaxing moment out in the sun, ward them off the cost-effective and easy way. Below are some helpful, and green, tips to keep mosquitoes away.
Prevention
Before you have to deal with them, reduce their breeding grounds by draining out any wet areas around your home, where mosquitoes love to breed in. By preventing their populations from growing and expanding, you will not only reduce the use of pesticide repellents but will also help prevent diseases that they transmit.
Listerine
Who knew that it would not only fight off gingivitis and bad breath, but will also get rid of those pesky blood-suckers.
What You Need:
-1 Bottle of Listerine
-Spray Bottle
Directions:Just pour the Listerine in the spray bottle and spray around your yard. Don't spray directly on a wood surface (such as the front door or your deck flooring). Instead, spray around the frames of doors and windows. Spray around your chair, around children's swing area, and even inside the dog house if you have one.
In The Garden
Growing Savory and Castrol oil plants near and around entrances and in your yard will help keep them away. Garlic also repels against mosquitoes, which is why there are no mosquitoes present in garlic fields. Garlic has a natural sulfur that repels insects such as mosquitoes, ticks, fleas and black flies.
Clothing
Adding anise oil to your rinse water when washing clothing will help repel mosquitoes for a while, thus reducing the need for insect repellents. If planning to stay outdoors for the day, avoid wearing perfume or washing your hair with scented shampoo.

Great tip
Your tips worked great to keep the mosquitoes away.
Another pest I had in my garden were snails and slugs. I used a mixture of water, vinegar, garlic powder, and chili powder to get rid of them.
