In this section, you can submit a product to see how environmentally friendly it is when compared to other products in its category. With the menu on your left, you can browse the existing products to see their environmentally friendliness. Also, using the search, you can find products already submitted by entering the product code or the manufacturer.

What are we doing? We are trying to create a worldwide, user driven, product sustainability index.

Why are we creating the sustainability index? Customers, more can ever, care about how environmentally friendly products are, and how efficiently they can perform. A product sustainability index will give products an eco rating, which in return will allow customers to make comparisons of different products to determine the products that are the most eco friendly.

How are we doing it? Creation of a sustainability index is a massive undertaking, so we shall accomplish this task with the contributions of users around the world. Our sustainability index is the first of its kind because it's user driven. Meaning that, anybody from around the world may submit products to help create the sustainability index.

Currently, the most important metric we are using for the comparisons is efficiency, mainly because it carries on for the life of the product. Different types of products have different factors and units of measurement that determine their environmentally friendly rating. For this reason, it's important to submit the products in their proper categories and with the specifications in the correct units of measurement. Once products are submitted, they are stored in the database and used for ongoing comparisons against other products.
